About Mulkerns Spar

Established in 1977 by Paul Mulkerns, Mulkerns Spar was one of the first stores to offer much needed convenience to the community; and has been supplying fresh foods and quality services for almost 30 years.

First located at 1 Newtown Road, in the village of Newtowncloughoge, the business outgrew its premises and a new store, petrol station and post office was constructed at a convenient location on the main Newry/ Forkhill road in 1994. Since relocation, the business has continued to expand and develop, the car park has been extended to accommodate over 100 cars, and further practical services have been added in the form of a garden centre, Cloughoge Dental Practice, The Oak Barrel off licence and a recycling facility.

As the business enters 2006, construction of a new Eurospar Supermarket is underway and will mark the beginning of yet another era for Mulkerns Spar.

The family-run business is now in its second generation; Paul continues to develop and enhance the business and is ably assisted by son and daughter, Ciaran and Mairead. Mulkerns Spar are proud of their reputation for exceptional customer service.
